Arjanmar Hernandez Rebeta is a photographer & filmmaker. He is a native from Cabusao, Camarines Sur, Bikol, Philippines.
He graduated Cum Laude in Philosophy at the Holy Trinity College Seminary. He is an alumnus of the Ricky Lee Film Scriptwriting Workshop. He studied filmmaking in Asia Pacific Film Institute. He attended the master classes of award-winning directors such as Brillante Mendoza, Ramona Diaz & Babyruth Villarama-Gutierrez. He was selected to participate at the Film & Media for Human Rights Advocacy Workshop by Cinema Human Rights and Advocacy & Active Vista. He was accepted at the Mindanao Screen Lab.
He is a recipient of Ani ng Dangal or "Harvest of Honors" (a state recognition given by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines), Film Ambassador by Film Development Council of the Philippines & Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video by Cultural Center of the Philippines.
His films have been selected & awarded in different film festivals in the Philippines and around the world. His short film Palabas was nominated at the 35th PMPC (Philippine Movie Press Club) Star Awards for Movies for Short Movie of the Year & Short Movie Director of the Year. Some of the notable film festivals he has been selected are Cinemalaya, Cinema Rehiyon, Sinag Maynila, Cinefilipino (Philippines), 15th Sedicicorto International Film Festival (Italy), 10th Festival del Cinema dei Diritti Umani di Napoli (Italy) and the 34th International Short Film Festival InterFilm Berlin (Germany).
With the short film “Ma-Gulong Sayaw ng Buhay” (The Complicated Dance to the Wheel of Life), he was awarded Best Director (7th Hak-İş International Short Film Festival – Turkey), Best of the Fest (Inspired Faith Film Festival - USA), Short Dramatic Film («LAMP» International Film Festival - Russia) & Silver Award (4th Sorok Short Film Festival 2017 - Philippines). The short film “Palabas” (A Country in Moving Pictures) has given him awards such as Best Film (Active Vista Short Film Competition - Philippines), Trouble With New Technologies Awards (16th Festival International Signs of the Night - France), Jury Prize (6th Salamindanaw Asian Film Festival - Philippines), Best Mobile Film (18th season of Calcutta International Cult Film Festival - India), 2nd Prize (30th Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video – Philippines). His short film “Live Cam” has won Best Smartphone Film (Watchdog Film Festival - Australia) & Platinum Award (Pixelworx Cinemansanas Digital Short Film Competition - Philippines). His first short documentary “Manoy Taghoy (Mr. Whistle) has won 3rd Prize (Globe 5-Minute Video Challenge - Philippines) & Honorable Mention (30th Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video – Philippines). His short film “Laboy Niamo” (Our Mud) has won Best Picture, Best Cinematography, People's Choice & Best Child Performers (3rd Peñafrancia Short Film Festival - Philippines) & Award of Merit (Christian Life International Film Festival - Canada). His first short film “Harayo, Harani Man” (Right Here) has won Best Cinematography, People's Choice, Best Child Performer, Second Best Picture (2nd Peñafrancia Short Film Festival - Philippines). His comedy short film “Lovers at First Sight” was one of the winners in the One Minute Story Section (The Hollywood Festival of New Cinema - USA). His short film “Ina: Motherly Connection” has won Social Media Star Award (The 5-Min Video Challenge). His short film VIVA INA: A FIVE-YEAR PHOTO & VIDEO DOCUMENTARY OF THE PEÑAFRANCIA FESTIVAL has won Moving Images Photographer of the Year & First Place in Moving Images Category. LOVE OTHERS AS YOUR SELFIE has won First Place (2nd Change Short Film Festival - Philippines). MGA TIPASI SA ALANG NA DAGA (SEEDS IN THE DRYLAND) has won Platinum Award (2nd Sorok Short Film Festival - Philippines). Viral Kids was one of the winners at the ABS-CBN’s Star Magic: Light, Camera, Magic - Philippines.
His short film “Ma-Gulong Sayaw ng Buhay” was also selected as one of the 100 Films for One Hundred Years; 2nd Cycle of the HIDDEN CINEMA: The Virtual Experience of the Philippine Cinema’s Centenary in 2018.
As a photographer, IPA, International Photography Awards – Philippines, awarded him as the "Event Photographer of the Year" (2017 & 2018), "Sports Photographer of the Year" (2017 & 2018), "Moving Image Photographer of the Year" (2018) and "Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year" (2018). He was also a finalist for the 16th Annual Lucie Awards in New York (2018). He was also awarded Gold & 2 Silver Awards at the 2018 Tokyo International Foto Awards. His photograph “Flying Bull” was featured in Smithsonian.com & National Geographic websites. His photograph “In the Wave of Faith” was included in the 30 Great Photos by Filipino Photographers 2017 by IPA (International Photography Awards) - Philippines. He was featured as Photographer of the Week in Picture Perfect section of the Manila Bulletin national newspaper.
